Great Artist

“Have you ever dreamed of being an Artist? Although this was not possible before, now it is because we have made a computer program. Let your imagination soar in Sketch mode, or take a 10-second Exam in which your imagination is subjected to the brutal and arbitrary standards of an unfeeling public under unreasonable time pressures.”

In 2014 I did a series of glitch art pieces with BECOME A GREAT ARTIST IN JUST 10 SECONDS, a Ludum Dare game and IGF 2015 Nuovo Award finalist by Michael Brough and Andi McClure.

The game utilizes almost all of the buttons of a standard keyboard, but comes without instructions as to which effect they have. Furthermore, most of the image operations are (contrary to contemporary image editing programs) inherently destructive. There is no save or undo function (or is there?). Thus, any button press can result in a totally different image in the blink of an eye, and the program becomes an exercise in exploration and meditation.

I posted all of them on my Tumblr.
